Anne Frank House Amsterdam

The Anne Frank House is situated directly along the Prinsengracht canal in central Amsterdam, preserving the authentic property where Anne Frank, her family, and four others spent more than two years hiding during the wartime occupation of the Netherlands. The historic complex encompasses Otto Frank’s commercial premises, the original warehouse, and the concealed rear annex protected behind a hinged wooden bookcase. Preserved with rigorous historical authenticity, the physical building stands as an enduring memorial to European history and the resilience of human hope. Visitors enter the historic front offices and warehouse before passing through the secret doorway into the Secret Annex. In accordance with Otto Frank’s explicit wish, the living spaces remain unfurnished and stripped, highlighting the tragic void left by wartime victims. The rooms retain authentic elements, including Anne's personal movie star magazine clippings pasted to the bedroom plaster, pencil lines marking the children’s growth, and framed historical documentation describing daily life in hiding. The adjoining modern museum wing provides historical depth through archival documentation, original diary manuscripts, family letters, and interactive educational galleries exploring human rights. Every admission pass includes a handheld audio guide device available in multiple languages, synchronizing automatically across exhibits to deliver diary excerpts, survivor accounts, and contextual narrative. The venue provides rapid mobile QR barcode scanning at entrance turnstiles for a seamless arrival experience.
